Andrew Smith MSFA
Parish Councillor
Messing Cum Inworth
I have lived in
Inworth for nearly two years and was asked if I would represent Inworth’s
residents’ interests on the Parish Council. Which I am happy to do until
a better candidate comes forward.
I hope to make life better for all the parish residents, as a new comer I will not know everyone very well yet but I hope to get to know people over time and to help out if help is needed .
If something needs doing give it to a busy man to do!
Background
Over the years I have been involved with my local community where ever I have lived around the UK. I have run the church youth club in my turn at Brackley in Northamptonshire where I grew up and played Rugby, Football and Cricket for the town teams and where I helped found a Rotaract Club (Junior Rotary).
In Market Deeping I became chairman of that branch of Rotaract as well as a member of the local Cricket Club. From there on to Nottingham where I was enrolled into Round Table having been kicked out of Rotaract on the age rule after 10 years. Again I played Cricket for a village side.
In 1988 Lis and I moved into Essex at Chelmsford, again living the village life in Sandon for 13 years, and yes I did play Cricket for the village there too! Since being in the county I have done my turn as chairman of the Round Table, helping to organise very many fund raising events including the annual Chelmsford Fireworks Display and raising many thousands of pounds for charity and left last year after 16 years service again on the on the age rule.
I am aged 46 and married without children. I am a Financial Advisor of some 20 years standing and am an employee with Scottish Widows working from home in the village. The village does not have a Cricket team so I content myself playing golf at Benton Hall, and trying to improve the house and garden when time permits.
My best wishes to all who read this. Remember a volunteer is worth 10 pressed men.
Andy Smith.
